The Myths of ADPs eTIME
The Myths of ADP’s eTIME
“We have seen a tremendous trend in companies reevaluating the outsourcing of time and attendance. Our largest segments of new clients are those leaving ADP’s eTIME system.”
- Labor Strategy
The real question is why is this trend happening? The reasons are simple; it is a matter of evaluating facts and economics. The simple truth is most companies utilize ADP’s eTIME because it is the path of least resistance and do not look at other vendors. It is time to shed some light on the ADP misconceptions or myths.
ADP’s eTIME is fully integrated into their payroll system? False.
ADP resells a 3rd party application which they have private labeled. It is not any more integrated into their payroll system than any other time and attendance application. Labor Strategy can provide the same integration into the ADP payroll system.
It is less expensive to out source than to purchase the applications? False.
Typically, when reviewing a five year period, you will pay 3-5 times what the system is worth. Currently, Labor Strategy is in conversation with companies that will gain more functionality, greater focus on implementation, better support and a realized savings of $12,000 to $150,000 by leaving ADP’s eTIME.
So, it is more expensive. But by out sourcing I am getting software updates on annual basis, and if they come out with a new clock I receive it automatically? False.
ADP rarely provides updates to the eTIME system, unless there is a problem with the system. Labor Strategy maintenance provides updates to the software at no cost and typically, the maintenance fees are at a savings of 80-90% compared to the ADP’s annual cost.
Since I am out sourcing, I don’t need any IT support? False.
ADP’s eTIME is installed on a server or PC(s) at your location. It requires the same IT support as any application that you will purchase. You are not eliminating any resources associated with time and attendance by out sourcing
Since I am outsourcing, I getting tax updates and if I don’t use eTIME I will not receive them? False.
The payroll tax updates and liabilities associated with all tax deposits are associated with the payroll service. You will not lose any of these updates as long as you continue to utilize ADP’s payroll service.
We are leasing the ADP eTIME software and clocks? False.
ADP’s “lease” for the software and clocks is actually a rental. The payment never ends as it does with a true lease. ADP’s monthly payment typically increases 2-5% per year as opposed to a true lease, where the payments are fixed for term of the lease. If you decided to terminate your relationship with ADP’s eTIME, regardless of how long you’ve been on the system, one year or ten years, you get nothing.
Because ADP is so big we are getting more features and functionality with the eTIME system. False.
Labor Strategy provides more functionality and a better implementation process to meet the customer’s needs. Some of these increases in features / functionality are:
-
Reallocation of OT
-
Robust reporting engine
-
Configurable view for frontline manager - match the application to varying managers’ skill sets
